Hahaz, i am back from Malaysia. Bought lots of food stuff and had some nice food over there. It seems there are not much changes in Malaysia. It is all oil palm and rubber plantation. The food is VERY nice, although some are disappointing.
From Singapore to Genting is about 7 hours, we reached there in the noon. We set off in the break of dawn. In Genting, it was boring, since there were the casinos and theme park. At the very least, there are some shops to shop around. Genting is pretty cold at night and most of us wore a jacket or coat. Ear puff shops are something new there, it seems the gamblers are there too. Well, if you want to go Genting, you either play, gamble or shop, there is nothing else there. The next stop is the foot of Genting. In Ipoh, we only had our lunch there and visited some caves. The lunch was at our own expense. We ate wanton noodles at a coffeeshop at the foot of Genting. It was only RM2.5, about S$1.2. The portion is quite reasonable and it is much much cheaper than Singapore. The service is slow. The roasted chestnuts, the chestnuts are local product, are sweet and fresh. The kaya in Malaysia are much nicer than Singapore's too, try it out at least once at anywhere. We moved on to the Ipoh Caves next. Caves with temples in it, they claim the caves are naturally formed, though one of them does not seems like. We also had our lunch at Ipoh after visting the caves, it is quite nice. Just the chicken meat is a bit too tough and the desserts are canned longan.Penang is a long long trip, it took about 6 hours in the coach( did i mention i travel by coach? if not, now you know.) Penang consists of the island and the inland, we went to the Penang Island. We crossed the Butterworth Bridge, once the longest bridge crossing the waters in the world. Now, still the longest in Asia if i am not wrong. We reached Penang in the noon, we are brought to the Snake Temple next. The snake temple, as its name suggests, has snakes (in the past, not sure about now). Now, they breed snakes to keep this tradition from dieing, there is a fruit stall there. The fruits is VERY fresh and sweet, we bought coconuts, jackfruits and jambus. After Snake Temple, we went to the Fort Cornwallis, we sat in the bus as we thought that it is similar to Singapore's Fort Siloso. The bus stopped near the side of the sea, it had a nice view of the sea and we watched the waves tide in. After waiting, the attendance was full and we headed for our hotel. As some kind of delays, we waited at the lobby for an hour or more. When we got our rooms, we are all quite satisfied though. The room is spacious and had nice facilities. We rested a while and the tour continued. We went for dinner next, in some restoran called 'May Garden'. The food was terrible. The dishes served are in much smaller portion than our dining group's needs. We have been divided in groups of 10, as the restoran( malay word for restaurant ) serves in tables of 10. Our dining groups consists of 6 of us and other 4 people. This marks the end of the tour, we headed to our hotel for the night. However, we went to the Sunway Hotel there to eat some food that we are craving since our last trips. Only 4 of us went, we ate almond cream with youtiao, cuttlefish with veg, popiah( it is served with the turnip gravy, very nice) , Lokbah (its ngoh hiang is simply delicious). After finishing our supper, we took takeaways and continued our eating at the hotel. We stayed over for the night.
